The Villaviciosa Estuary stands out, considered one of the best preserved and most biologically rich estuaries in northern Spain and an ideal space for lovers of ornithology and water sports.
At the mouth of the Villaviciosa's Estuary, you will find Rodiles Beach, one of the largest sandy areas in Asturias, and one of the most spectacular on the Cantabrian coast and a reference for surf lovers.
Numerous pumaradas (apple plantations) and cider presses (wineries) dot the territory, earning it the title of “Apple Capital of Spain”, in addition to being part of the famous Asturian Cider Region.
"El Camino de Santiago", declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, runs through this municipality, leaving in its wake a good number of Romanesque and pre-Romanesque temples. San Salvador de Valdediós, better known as “El Conventín”, constitutes one of the most beautiful and important examples of Asturian Pre-Romanesque Art.
The beach and port of Puntal are located 7 km from Villaviciosa. This small sandy area is located in front of the Misiegu and Rodiles Beaches. It has a wooded area provided with tables and benches as well as a promenade to enjoy the estuary and the sea.
Tazones Beach, with about 200 m. long, is located at the foot of this picturesque town and fishing port declared a Historic Site. In its numerous hospitality establishments you can enjoy excellent seafood cuisine.
